Independence from what?
Sorry, I'm not feelin' particularly holidaytastic. I hear people saying (and see them writing) "Happy 4th! " Well the 4th is just another day, its not the number that makes it a holiday. The holiday isn't "The 4th of July" it is "Independence Day."
We really should just call it "America's Birthday." as any "Independence" it commemorates has been overshadowed by our own government's depradations and the general sheepishness and apathy of our people.
So, Happy Friggin' 4th, those of you who think hot dogs and fireworks somehow make this a day worth having off from work.
