Well anyone can play armchair shrink but at least you have some training and experience, so why people would reject that out of hand I don't know...although there something to be said for knowing just enough to get yourself in trouble! :D But I certainly wouldn't tell anyone to mind their own business when I post a dream publically and leave the comments enabled! :)
The keys opening unexpected locks thing could be taken two ways - no matter how securely you think you lock a door, someone might be able to unlock it anyway - or, the keys you have may work on more doors than you previous thought - the limit being mental (you don't expect them to do so, so you don't try it out). That sounds more like me talking than Dad. LOL
The flashlight thing I find interesting because its one of the real world items I own that have made the transition into my dream space. I dream in color most times so it was reassuring to have my green power working here (green is a long time favorite color for me).
I don't know that I explained the light switches correctly - the switch for the porch light is inside the house (like most), and as for the inside of the house, I was reaching around the corner or through a door to flip on lights for the next room. I just never seemed to be able to get the light on in the room I was actually occupying except that room of Mom & Dad's and then only that fitful unstable light.
The house in the dream is the one I grew up in and is the most common house for me to dream I'm in. It is an archtypal locale for me, and its continued existence in reality is in question as it has been up for sale for years - however there have been many obstacles to its sale, and I like to think that is at least partially Dad's doing. He loved the place and would never have sold it.
