Home from the Coast

Varmint and I took a road trip for a few days and visited his best friend down there whilst we sight-saw, snapped pics, hung out, relaxed, and had some yummy foodz. Bear Paws Massage on BearPodcast
Apr. 1st, 2009 12:39 amHey folks! If you ever wanted to know what a massage with me was like (or at least sounds like) go check out BearPodcast #255 (click pic for linkie)! My pal Nard booked a session with me during TBRU in Dallas. He decided that he wanted his first time to be special, so not only did he tape it, he put it on the internetz! w00T!
It's always fun to work with a "massage virgin" and since I knew he was recording and he had plenty of questions, I was a little more in "teacher mode" than normal. However, I think with him editing out the long silences (and most of his moaning and groaning) it isn't a bad preview of what a massage session is like. :)

Next stop: Bear Pride/ IML in Chicago for Memorial Day Weekend.

Had a great time in Dallas as per usual, thanks to the fine cast of locals and visitors who make the run such a fun time. It was great to see some of my far flung pals as well as meet some new folks.
I can finally say I went to the bars during a run for a change - Hidden Door esp was fun (go-go bunny bears and rfrozen margaritas, yum!) but insanely packed. Might like that better on a different weekend :D
Massages went well, mostly with repeat clients but I did pick up a couple new ones and even got one massage virgin (which you can hear about shortly on bearpodcast) ;)
BSG ended amid slices of pizza, wiping of eyes and a good gang of furry fellers - thanks tojoshjeffcoat , blatantsubtlety and eggwards for making it happen.
All in all an awesome week/end, thanks again to my hosts, see everyone next time (and those who were absent) I hope!

This evening has been right out of a Southern Gothic novel or an episode of True Blood - complete with dark, storm-torn clouds lurking in a pale grey sky, black cats crossing our path, bourbon toddies, fried catfish, redneck sheriffs, Mardi Gras beads, and half-submerged car wrecks in the bayou in the middle of nowhere - where 100 years ago a community was scoured off the face of the Earth by a hurricane. And that was all within the first couple hours of being here.
Hell yeah, bring it. ;)

Jan. 5th, 2009 09:57 pmFound a journal note I made on my trip to Chicago for Bear Pride in '06, don't remember if I ever posted it.
I was on the plane back to ATL and seated across the aisle from me were a father in his late-20's perhaps and his very young daughter, maybe 3 or 4. They were having a very intense discussion-cum-argument over her identity.
She: (frankly) "I'm not a daughter."
He: (calmly) "You're *my* daughter."
(stridently) "But I'm the Phoebe!"
(patiently) "You're my daughter whose *name* is Phoebe. You can be a daughter and Phoebe at the same time."
(sullen pause) "I'm not just your daughter!"
(quizzical) "You aren't?"
(emphatically) "NO."

May. 27th, 2008 07:59 pmThanks to a scheduling snafu at the school I have the night off. This is good in that I can just relax and recoup and do laundry, but annoying in that I could have stayed another night in Chicago AND saved $25 on the air fare. Grr. Grr, I say.
Lot of flakiness this year, esp on the business end of things, but I did get to see most of the folks I really aimed to, and had some lovely adventures with a few special cubs. ;) The big bummer was my necessarily late arrival to town made me miss the block party. Waaah!
Big thanks to Will for hosting again, and Owen and Dave for making with the hospitality last night.
Yay for getting to sleep in my own bed (though I did enjoy havin' a cuddle buddy the last few nights)!
