Will rub for geek?
May. 31st, 2009 11:05 amAre there any local peeps who would barter some computer hardware work for massage? I was given an older case that was a custom job (so I cant just look up the model # to see what can go in it) that has some issues due to some "home-brew dabbling" done by a third party, and I want know if the motherboard, memory is ok, etc. I also want to wipe it and do a clean OS install, etc but only if I know the hardware is sound.
I also have an even older box and a few spare pieces (video card, DVD burner) that I'd like to see if this newer case is compatible with.
I have some documentation that goes with the newer case, if you have initial questions or will need it to tinker with.
Any one with mad 'puter skills interested in trading their geekery for rubbins?

Bear Paws Massage on BearPodcast
Apr. 1st, 2009 12:39 amHey folks! If you ever wanted to know what a massage with me was like (or at least sounds like) go check out BearPodcast #255 (click pic for linkie)! My pal Nard booked a session with me during TBRU in Dallas. He decided that he wanted his first time to be special, so not only did he tape it, he put it on the internetz! w00T!
It's always fun to work with a "massage virgin" and since I knew he was recording and he had plenty of questions, I was a little more in "teacher mode" than normal. However, I think with him editing out the long silences (and most of his moaning and groaning) it isn't a bad preview of what a massage session is like. :)
Thanks again Nard, it was a business doing pleasure with you!
Next stop: Bear Pride/ IML in Chicago for Memorial Day Weekend.

Had a great time in Dallas as per usual, thanks to the fine cast of locals and visitors who make the run such a fun time. It was great to see some of my far flung pals as well as meet some new folks.
I can finally say I went to the bars during a run for a change - Hidden Door esp was fun (go-go bunny bears and rfrozen margaritas, yum!) but insanely packed. Might like that better on a different weekend :D
Massages went well, mostly with repeat clients but I did pick up a couple new ones and even got one massage virgin (which you can hear about shortly on bearpodcast) ;)
BSG ended amid slices of pizza, wiping of eyes and a good gang of furry fellers - thanks to
joshjeffcoat ,
blatantsubtlety and
eggwards for making it happen.
All in all an awesome week/end, thanks again to my hosts, see everyone next time (and those who were absent) I hope!

Vote for 2008
Jan. 23rd, 2008 07:32 pmThis has been a pretty cool 24 hours.
I taught my new class last night which I was anxious about because I was worried I'd forgotten too much to fill up the time (4 hours) but I barely fit it all in. Once my big ol' mouth opened info just started flying out. Cool. I actually plan to slow down next time and not bombard them.
Then I had dinner with some new pals and naughty photo / slap & tickle-time with a cute and sweet cub. Got home super late - got up and went to school to trade massages with one of my students (ahhhhh so that's what my legs are supposed to feel like), got comic books with Houndie and am now hanging out with he and Piper while I wait for Sabrina to come over to work on her character for my super-hero game.
Rock. 2008 can officially stay.

Summa Cum Loudly
Oct. 19th, 2007 11:32 pmTonight was graduation at school, and for the first time since I've been teaching, I got to participate in such ceremonies. It was a really great experience. Having graduated myself in that very same room it was fulfilling to see it all from the "inside" perspective. It was great to see all my students (most of whom graduated with honors, this group was really kickass in the grades department compared to other groups) so happy and relieved, and to more than once hear one of them introduce me as "one of my favorite instructors." It's just so good to know you're appreciated, both by the school and by the students. I don't recall ever feeling quite as pleased and "part of it all" at a job as I did tonight.
It's been about a year since I started teaching regularly again, and I feel like I too have graduated a basic course in my career, and hopefully, in my life as well.

Training Day 1
May. 7th, 2007 10:25 pmI feel pretty...oh, so pretty...I feel pretty, and witty, and....everyone already knows the rest.
We started the training class as the spa today and I got exfoliated and essential-oiled all ovah! It was kinda neat having 4 people salt-scrubbing and massaging me at once...tingly!
So far so good, just have a few particulars to remember when I do a session for them, not too crazy.
Tomorrow we learn to do seaweed wraps and hot stone massage. woohoo!
I shall be needing some practice victims soon - anything with special products like scrubs or wraps you have to buy the product (or pay me to do it - I get a nearly half-off discount on their stuff).

Mellow week with a happy ending
Sep. 8th, 2006 06:14 pmBeen a mellow couple of days - just been catching up on sleep from the weekend, and doing laundry, going through my art stuff to streamline it a bit and trying to get the house back in shape post-Con frenzy.
Visited Mom & Larry for dinner and massages the other day and Magister Rob
knight2monarch yesterday for dinner and TV/geek time.
Tonight some of the guys are comin over to have a little hang out /massage/ drinkie /movie night in Director Raph
raphbearish's honor since he's in town for just a couple more days.
I was gonna open it up to a larger crowd but my padawan has chosen to go indulge in the blashpemous abominations of Sodom with some boy in out in the boonies! Can you imagine the nerve?! Why, I never. Pup, you know he's not a gentleman and only wants to penetrate your anal cavity. Tighten your corset!
This weekend I have rubbin's to do and a cub's birfday to celebrate with some of the Cub Corps. Should be fun! I hope Contender Cub gets better soon, he seems to have caught the Con Crud, poor thing. ;)

Weekend update part I
Jan. 29th, 2006 02:06 pmHad a nice coffee date yesterday with a cute pocketdaddybear sort. We had a really good conversation, so much so that I felt like I was an auctioneer trying to jam in every thought at super-speed to cover all the bases. Whew! LOL, might have also been the chai latte, I shoulda got decaf. ;) He was doing the same thing, so it was all good.
After my micro-rant about "erotic massage" the other day, wouldn't you know this feller was all into it at one time and taught classes in it, etc. So yeah, we had a very interesting discussion of our take on it, the POV's surrounding it, the ramifications, etc etc.
I can't say I'm any more in favor of it thah I was before *as practiced in a professional session* (personal un-hired time is a whole 'nother story) but now I *can* say that I at least have some understanding of where its proponents might be coming from (no pun intended) and what needs it serves beyond the obvious.
I also realized that to understand someone's POV is not ncessarily to agree with it, and to respect it is not ncessarily to endorse it, and that's perfectly fine. We don't all have to agree or support one another to be civil, or even friendly. We just have to shut up for a second and listen to the other person's story. There is almost always a common thread or theme that we can at least say "hey that's not what *I* would have done there, but I can see why *you* would do it in that circumstance."
The best part is that when he got home and sent me a thank you IM, he said he'd had the very same experience from our convo! LOL! Pretty cool.
On a less happy note, I got the last of my art back from Borders today. I understand them wanting to do something different after an unprecedented 13 month display, so it's all good.
